Stained Glass
The art of stained glass is almost synonymous with churches. Nineteenth- and twentieth-century stained glass windows can be found in many churches across the Teifi Faith Trail.
In some cases windows are glazed with plain glass, with decorative lead work and small pieces of coloured glass, as at Cellan and Llangybi. Windows made locally can be found at Llanwenog, and the twentieth-century Swansea firm Celtic Studios was responsible for windows at Tregaron, Llangeitho and Llanfair Clydogau. A new window at Tregaron by Catrin Davies was recently installed in 2022.
At Betws Bledrws nearly all of the windows are glazed with nineteenth-century stained glass, in a scheme of beautiful Pre-Raphaelite windows by the Lancaster firm Shrigley & Hunt. Later work by the firm can be seen at Tregaron.
The famous west window at Lampeter is the last great work of the Irish master Wilhelmina Geddes, and the work of several other artists and studios can be found there. A guide to the stained glass at Lampeter is available at the church.
