Gartheli
The church at Gartheli is also dedicated to a saint named Gartheli, and was formerly a chapel within the parish of Llanddewi Brefi.
The church was reportedly in ruins in the eighteenth century, but was rebuilt in 1810. This church was replaced by the present building of a simple design in 1875. The interior is graced by a 1950 stained glass window by Celtic Studios, depicting the Risen Christ.

The saint’s name Gartheli is obscure and perhaps a form of Gwrtheli or Gwrddelw. Gwrddelw is listed in a seventeenth-century manuscript with a feast day of 7 January. Iolo Morganwg provided him with a genealogy as a son of the legendary Caw of Strathclyde.
