Llanllwni
The church at Llanllwni is picturesquely situated on an elevated site overlooking the River Teifi and adjacent to a medieval motte. The building is Grade ll listed and boasts a tall sixteenth-century parapeted tower. The medieval dedication of the church is uncertain, and it is now dedicated to St Luke, but in the past it has been thought to have been dedicated to saints known as either Llonio or Llwni.

St Llonio is the patron of Llandinam in Montgomeryshire and a poem written in his honour is known from the sixteenth century. An earlier reference to Llonio Lawhir names him as the son of Alan Fyrgan son of Emyr Llydaw, giving him a Breton provenance, and provides a link with Arthurian tradition. The dedication to Luke is presumably modern.
The medieval nave was considerably altered in the nineteenth century and was reordered in an Arts and Crafts style by W. Ellery Anderson in 1934. The altar table stone is medieval and was returned to its original position in 1917, having been long-used as a seat outside the west door. Complementing this is the thirteenth-century square-bowled font.
A monument of around 1810 remembers the locally-born Admiral John Thomas of Llanvaughan, a successful frigate captain, who lost a leg in action during the American War of Independence, but won enough prize-money during his career to purchase the local manor of Llanfechan.
A late Gothic Revival stained glass window of 1936 is by Christopher Charles Powell and depicts St Francis.
The churchyard contains two notable late nineteenth-century family mausolea, both of which are Grade ll listed.
